The right stone for the job is as crucial as the quality stone masonry we provide. Various stones have differing heat, scratch, stain and shine qualities. Select granite, marble, quartz or onyx to find out more about that stone and its uses.

Quartz Composite

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the world. There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones.

Pure quartz, sometimes called clear quartz, is colourless and transparent and has often been used for hardstone carvings.

Common coloured varieties include citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz and milky quartz. Milky quartz may be the most common variety of crystalline quartz and can be found almost anywhere. The white colour is caused by minute fluid inclusions of gas, liquid, or both, trapped during the crystal formation.

Quartz is exceptionally hard wearing making it a great match for rough use in the kitchen or bathroom. Its beautiful, luxurious appearance also makes for a classy fireplace. The stones qualities include being non-porous, scratch resistant and maintenance free as it needs no sealing or polishing.
